Penspen offer 5 types of audit:
- Technical Audits are typically conducted on single pipelines but can also be performed on individual pieces of equipment or complete pipeline networks. An audit will be structured around the requirements of an appropriate engineering code such as IGEM/TD/1 or ASME B31.4 and will seek evidence that the pipeline is compliant with the code and may continue to operate safely and effectively.
- Compliance Audits are based on a client's own documentation and seeks evidence that the client's personnel are carrying out the tasks as described in the documentation.
- Legal Compliance Audits seek evidence that the client's systems and procedures are sufficient to ensure compliance with the relevant pipeline related legislation. An audit will address whether the client is obtaining all the necessary approvals and is managing the risk to people and the environment as required by the Regulatory Authorities.
- PIMS Audits are conducted on the management arrangements that a client has established to ensure pipeline integrity. A PIMS audit will be structured around the various codes such as ASME B31.8S, API 1160, CEN TS 15173/4 and DNV RP 116 as well as Penspen's own experience of managing pipeline integrity.
- Due Diligence Audits are typically conducted for clients who are intending to purchase an existing pipeline or system. They are a combination of Technical Audits and PIMS audits and seek to confirm that the pipeline or system was correctly designed, constructed and operated in accordance with sound industry practice and that the pipeline or system is in the condition claimed by the vendor.
Where an audit reveals non-conformities, recommendations for corrective action will be made and in the case of technical audits an assessment can be made to determine whether the pipeline may continue to be operated or whether remedial action is required.
